The enable pin is pulled high through a resistor so bridge-A will be functioning all the time.

The four diodes are FLYBACK diodes used for protecting the IC form inductive voltage spikes. These logic inputs are provided by Microcontroller or Microprocessor in application circuits. As shown in the circuit we have two push buttons Q1 and Q2 which act as controls inputs for bridge-A. Here we are using one of H-BRIDGES of l298 IC.

L298 is basically used where H- BRIDGE is required. Here are a few areas where L298 is preferred: Logical “0”input voltage up to 1.5V( high noise immunity).Able to drive a two-phase stepper motor, four-phase stepper motor or two DC motors.2 enable control terminals to enable or device without inputting signals.when current control and PWM operable single-chip device is needed.when the control unit can only provide TTL outputs.when high power motor driver is required.when it is needed to operate different loads like motors and solenoid etc where an H-Bridge is required. Two enable inputs are provided to enable or disable the device independently of the input signals. It is a high voltage, a high current dual full-bridge driver designed to accept standard TTL logic levels and drive inductive loads such as relays, solenoids, DC and stepping motors. The L298 is an integrated monolithic circuit in a 15-lead Multiwatt and PowerSO20 packages.
